| dc.description.abstract | Scuba Diving is one of the popular activities in adventure tourism. In Sri Lankan tourism currently try to develop Scuba diving all over the country. Hikkaduwa and Trincomale are well-known places in Sri Lanka for the Scuba diving. Although Colombo is new to Scuba diving, Colombo has marvelous coral and wrecks. The research questions were what the potentials to develop scuba diving are and what the barriers to develop scuba diving in Colombo are. The research objectives were identifying potentials and identifying barriers. For that questioners and interview method were used to collect data. Factor analysis and summarizing method were used to analyze the results. In this research proved potentials are in Colombo to develop Scuba diving. Then found barriers which are influencing to the development of Scuba diving in Colombo. There were lots of barriers to develop scuba diving in Colombo. Lack of accommodations facilities, Traffic in Colombo, Lack of equipments, safety and security issues are some of major barriers to develop scuba diving in Colombo. Barriers are directly affected to the Scuba diving in Colombo. Barriers should be minimized and should introduce new technologies, funds, equipment, accommodation and other things. The maximum contribution was given by both tourists and Scuba operators. This research will be a path to do a more research about scuba diving. Researchers can find more barriers and solution for them and promotional tools to develop scuba diving in Colombo likewise. Finally researcher found there are potentials in Colombo to develop Scuba diving.Conclusions and suggestions were also given according to compare potential and barriers. That conclusion and suggestions were written by researcher and ideas were given by Scuba operators. | en_US |
