Item A Study of impact of Risks and benefits of It Outsourcing Towards the Business Performance in Financial Institutions in Sri Lanka(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2010) Sameera, P.A.N.Increasingly, financial institutions are jumping into the Information Technology (IT) outsourcing in an effort to enhance the business performance with the booming of IT in present scenario. The purposes of this research work are to identify the impact of Benefits and Risks of IT outsourcing towards the IT outsourcing and, to identify the impact of IT outsourcing towards the performance in the financial institutions in Sri Lanka. Researcher used developed model (Lawrence L. and Venkatraman N. 1995) for the study. 20 financial institutions were taken as the sample and primary data were gathered using questionnaire, filled by Chief Information Officers (CIO). Data was analyzed by descriptive statistic and inferential statistics. The result showed that Benefits of IT outsourcing highly impacts on IT outsourcing positively while Risks of IT outsourcing highly impact on IT outsourcing negatively and IT outsourcing highly impact on Business Performance positively. Management attitudes, Government policies (taxes), Size of the institution and Technological leverage are the other variables, affect to IT outsourcing. Presently every organization utilizes the IT based treatment in their common business practices. Network management, application development, data management, maintaining infrastructures and providing hardware are the services that are involved in booming the IT scenario. Furthermore, the IT consultation and the IT solutions for the organization are the treatments which are offered by IT services providers. When the IT decisions are implemented by the organization, they consider the cost of implementation of IT infrastructures. It may relatively be a significant investment that cannot be borne by the organization within their cost structure. In the Sri Lankan context, the IT involvement in the business process has now been increased with a rapid enhancement of Information Technology. Global consulting giant, A.T. Keameys, Global Services Location Index, 2006 highlights Sri Lanka among the top 50 outsourcing destinations. Sri Lanka finds its place in the index at the ranking of 29111 among the 50 nations which were considered by AT Kearny. The A.T. Kearney Global Services Location Index analyzes the top 50 services locations worldwide against 41 measurements in three major categories and they include the cost, people's skills and availability and business environment.
