dc.description.abstractThis study was carried out to find the determinants of exit of barn owners from the flue cured tobacco farming in Sri Lanka. Survey was conducted with the sample of 300 barn owners representing continuously function barn owners, randomly function barn owners and exit barn owners from Galewela, Polonnaruwa and Mahiyanganaya areas. Fourteen factors were employed to find the determinants of exit. Ordered logistic regression and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Results proved that when higher the, factors age, education, non tobacco income, farmer preference on other field crop and number of hired labour days are positively affected on the barn owners' exit of farming tobacco. Higher the, numbers of dependents, years of experience, total land size, target yield per hectare, family support, health condition, availability of successor the propensity to exit from the business getting decreased.
