dc.description.abstractThe research study was carried out in polonnaruwa district to identify the level of adoption of paddy fertilizer recommendation by farmers in paddy cultivation. It has estimated about 45,000 paddy farm households in Polonnaruwa district and 200 of paddy farm household selected from each Divisional Secretariat division through stratified sampling process to the sample. Using survey, primary data was collected through pre tested, semi structured questionnaires by direct interviewing. Secondary data was collected from district statistical department, central bank report and national census and statistical department. Binary logistic regression model was used to analysis collected data. Correlation analysis was done to understand relationship between variables. Data was analyzed by using Minitab 15 software version and Stata 12 version. According to the survey result 79% of paddy farmers adopt fertilizer recommendation revised at 2001. Satisfaction on extension service, technical knowledge on fertilizer, paddy variety, land productivity and cost, of production are the significant factors affecting on the adoption on recommendation4b disseminate this new information that relevant in agriculture, it needs to develop well-structured and broad extension service in all over the country and specially it need to focus on improvement of farmer's knowledge on fertilizer.
