dc.description.abstractThis undergraduate research was carried out to identify the potential of inter-cropping in cashew cultivation in Batticaloa district. Baticaloa region is popular for cashew cultivation in both cashew cultivated with intercrop and cashew cultivated as monocrop in current. But few of farmers was did the cashew cultivation with inter crop. But inter cropping method is important to economically to increase the maximum utilization of the land and increase the productivity of main plant or crops. However very little of farmers known about its impact on the cashew cultivation with inter-crop. Pre-tested structured questionnaire was employed to collect information from 120 cashew cultivated farmers there was data collected from 60 of cashew cultivated farmers with inter crop and 60 of cashew cultivated farmers as mono crop in Batticaloa district. This paper analyzes the effects of cashew cultivation farmers to promote inter crop cultivation in Batticaloa district. It shows two important results: (i) intercrop cultivation is positive effects in cashew yield, and (ii) inter-crop cultivation is increase the productivity of land, despite increased farmer's income. It points to two important trends: (i) inter-crop adversely affects yield of cashew by inducing a proper inter cropping system and (ii) the cashew cultivated farmers are increase their income through maximize the utilization of land. Therefore, a key development challenge for extension of cashew cultivation in Batticaloa district. Key words: Inter-crop, Yield, Income, Utilizationen_US
