Item Identify Potentials of Sri Lanka to Become a Tea Tourism Destination With Special Reference to Nuwara Eliya and Badulla District(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2016) Rajapaksha, R.M.P.D.K.Today tourism industry is an emerging industry in global scenario. Tourism is one of major profit earning industry in Sri Lanka. With the development of tourism, niche tourism emerged as new concept. Tea is one of main resource that can promote as niche tourism segment in Sri Lanka. This study was a descriptive research and quantitative analysis is included. The research methods employed both qualitative and quantitative. Study recognized the potentials to promote Sri Lanka as a tea tourism destination with special reference to Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts by investigating the tea tourists' attitudes, expectations and destination capabilities and local community involvement for tea tourism. Both demand and supply side of tea tourism one hundred and seventy three of potentials tea tourists and thirty eight community people who engaged with tourism related business were included in the sample while for the collection of data, structured questionnaire and semi structured interviews were adopted. As this is a new area of research in Sri Lankan context, the visitor profile of potential tea tourist and local community have been recognized. The numerous potentials have been identified which will be in capable of promoting tea tourism. To analyze the gathered data through interviews and questionnaires it was used data summarizing. Percentages were calculated to analyze the data of tourist and community. The numerous potentials have been identified which will be in capable of promoting tea tourism. Destination image building with the brand name of "Ceylon Tea", global promotional campaigns with the collaboration of Social Media Marketing tools as well introducing sustainable tourism experience packages has been recommended. By way of important findings, facilities, events and activities should develop to satisfy tourists and attract more tourists. There was lack of community involvement to tourism business and very less amount of people benefited from tea tourism.Item The Impact of Gamification Techniques on Employee Productivity in Hospitality Industry: Special Reference to Four and Five Star Hotels in Colombo District(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2019) Rajapaksha, R.M.P.D.K.; Jayathilaka, W.M.S.D.; Danthanarayana, C.P.Although gamification is a modern concept that can be applied in any industry, the hospitality industry is not much applying these techniques to the operations. On-the-job training is one of the most effective types of training which directs to employee productivity in the organization. The main objective of this study is to identify the relationship between gamification techniques used in the hospitality industry to improve employee productivity through on-the-job training. In addition, the paper examines the mediatory impact of on-the-job training on gamification techniques and employee productivity by analysing the collected data from two of the main stakeholders in the hospitality industry: hotel employees and employers. One hundred and fifty operational level employees and fifty executive-level managers who are working at above four-star hotels in Colombo district were selected using convenient sampling technique and two self-administered questionnaires were fielded to collect primary data from selected samples. Six underlying factors were analysed under gamification techniques used in hotels: achievements; collecting; challenge; competition; cooperation; and rules. Based on the analysed data collected from two parties, gamification can be used to act as an interface between employees and hotels, to leverage responsible and ethical working behaviour. Apart from the employee productivity gamification techniques positively contribute on effective communication, social interaction, better informed and more skilled personnel, increased job satisfaction, strategic thinking, positive attitudes toward the employment and lead to a satisfied client. Together with better-qualified employees, gamification contributes to improving the overall image of the hotel, a development of the cooperation between employees and hotels that can have a positive impact on the wellbeing of the entire hospitality industry.
