Item A Study of Factors Affecting the Business Success of Tourism Related Small and Medium Enterprises in Sri Lanka (with special reference to Central province)(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2018) Raazim, M.A.M.; Nawarathna, A.M.D.B.; Gunaratne, Y.M.C.Sri Lanka is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in world. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) occupy a dominant position in Tourism both at global and local level. Currently, Tourism related SMEs are facing various challenges to survive in the market and they should have the ability to adapt to the changes, as Tourism is one of the fastest growing and dynamic industries in Sri Lanka. Considering the importance of SME sector in Tourism, this study strives to identify the factors affecting the business success of Tourism related SMEs in Sri Lanka. Objectives of this research are to identify the demographic profile of Tourism related SME operators, to determine the factors affecting on business success and to identify the most influential factor which is significantly affect the business success of Tourism related SMEs. SME business characteristics, Firm's strategies, Management know how, Products and services, Customer and market, Resource and finance, Government support and External environment were studied as business success factors used to measure the business success. The study was based on primary data collected from a sample of 75 Tourism related SME business operators selected using convenience sampling method. Questionnaire survey method was applied data collection. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis techniques were used for the data analysis. The results revealed that all the factors studied other than the government support are having positive relationship with the business success, while SME business characteristics was identified as the most significant factor which shows the highest coefficient value of 0.421. Study recommends to Tourism related SMEs to focus on all the affecting factors. Further support from government should be improved in order to acquire more benefits and to overcome the current challenges while ensuring business success of Tourism related SMEs in Sri Lanka.Item A Study of Factors Affecting the Business Success of Tourism Related Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES) in Sri Lanka (With Special Reference to Central Province)(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2017) Raazim, M.A.M.Sri Lanka has proved to be one of the fastest growing tourist destinations. Currently, the tourism related SMEs are facing various challenges to survive in the market and they should have the ability to adopt to the changes in the modern world. Considering the importance of SME sector in Tourism, this study has strived to identify the factors that are affecting the business success of Tourism related SME businesses in Sri Lanka with special reference to Central Province. The objectives of this research is to identify the demographic profile of Tourism related SME business operators, to determine the relationship between the business success factors and the business success and to identify the most influential factor which is significantly affect the business success of Tourism related SMEs. SME business characteristics, Firm's strategies, Management know-how, Products and services, Customer and market, Resource and finance and Government support and external environment were studied as business success factors while, survival, profitability, sales growth and reputation were considered in measuring the business success. The analysis mainly depends on the primary data collected by the researcher through the structured questionnaire. The sample size was 75 Tourism related SME business operators selected using convenience sampling method. The data analysis methods included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis to fulfill the objectives of this study. Eight hypotheses were developed to find out the factors that are affecting the Business Success of SMEs in Sri Lanka. The results revealed that all the factors studies other than the government support are affecting on business success while the SME business characteristics was identified as the most significant factor for the business success which includes the indicators of age, size and location of the business. Hence, the support from the government should be increase for the Tourism related SME industry through implementing policies, providing financial incentives, infrastructure facilities and proper assistance in order to get more benefits, to overcome from the challenges and to ensure the business success of Tourism related SME businesses in Sri Lanka.Item A Study of Factors Affecting the Business Success of Tourism Related Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES) in Sri Lanka (With Special Reference to Central Province)(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2017) Raazim, M.A.M.Cultural, Heritage tourism is one of the and fastest growing industry in Sri Lanka. Global tourism markets and the Cultural, Heritage tourism covers all aspects of travel that provide an opportunity for visitors to learn about other areas history and lifestyle. Even though the tourist arrival increased during the post war period, especially in north province, there is no significant improvement in the visitor arrival to Keerimalai kovil. Also, there are several cultural heritage places available, but the Keerimalai kovil is not popular as others. Since the local and foreign tourists are interested in cultural tourism there is a potential to improve the popularity. Therefore, researcher focused to explore the visitor profile towards Keerimalai kovil and the current status of destination attributes in order to promote the tourist arrival to Keerimalai kovil with the research title "Identification ofpotentials to Develop Cultural Heritage Tourism in Keerimalai Kovil". The research objectives are to identify the visitor profile of Keerimalai Kovil and to identify the destination attributes to develop cultural tourism in Keerimalai Kovil. Researcher used following questions to reach the research objectives. What is the visitor profile of Keerimalai Kovil? And what are the destination attributes to develop cultural tourism in Keerimalai Kovil? Questionnaire method has been used to collect data and selected 100 number of tourist from Keerimalai kovil. Collected the data during three months of period without depend on specific month for reliable results. Questions are designed to collect both demographic factors of the visitors to identify the visitor profile and destination attribute to rank in order to identify the current status of destination attribute. Collected data analyzed the data using descriptive analysis. The key finding are as follows: males are highly participated in the cultural tourism activities than female, 30- 39 and 20 — 29 age tourists are-highly visiting the Kovil, local tourists are higher the foreign tourists, graduates have visited the destination than theirs and the destination is popular among educated people, full time employees have attracted than the others, visitors received the information about the destination was a medium like social media and other( factors have been discussed in conclusion in detail
