Item Study on Factors Affecting to Guest’s Decision Making on Online Travel Agencies for Hotel Booking, Evidence from Five Star Hotels in Kalutara District, Sri Lanka(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2020) Madhusankha, W.A.I.; Samarasekara, E.A.S.I.; Ranaweera, R.A.A.K.; Danthanarayana, C.P.Technology development leads hospitality and tourism industries to utilize online-based business activities. In the present scenario, the majority of guests are taking aids of online travel agencies (OTA) to book accommodation. However, factors affecting guests' decision making on OTA for hotel booking remains unclear. Also, few studies have been found on factors affecting guests' decision making on OTA for hotel booking in Sri Lanka by researchers. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to identify the major factors influencing on guests' decision making on OTA for hotel booking and to identify the most influencing factor/s of guest’s decision making on OTA for hotel booking. An instrument was developed based on previous tourism studies as well as a self-directed survey, and data were collected from 300 hotel guests of the Kalutara district. Quantitative data were collected from the sample by using a convenience sampling method. Based on the data from the survey and using factor analysis, this study identified three influencing factors: social demographic factors, internal factors, and external factors. Among these influencing factors, internal factors and external factors were the most affecting factors. The result further suggested that hotels need to develop their main website with updated applications. Several recommendations were made to the government and hotels, regarding further development of this OTA for hotel booking. Sri Lanka is a country which can develop many tourism concepts with existing resources such as adventure tourism, religious tourism, Ayurveda tourism etc... Sri Lankan have long civilized history, as a result of that Sri Lankan food culture became as one of rich resource which can use to develop gastronomy tourism in Sri Lanka. According to the records of Sri Lankan tourism development authority European tourists are the highest number of tourists for Sri Lanka. The objectives of this research are to identify the push and pull factors of local food purchasing behavior of European travelers, influence of existing pull factors to European traveler's Sri Lankan food purchasing behavior and identify the factors to increase European tourists to Sri Lankan restaurants. The analysis mainly depends on the primary data collected by the author. Sample size was 150 European tourists interviewed using stratified random sample technique and convenience sample technique in Kandy, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa areas. Both quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods were employed in the analysis. Data were collected by distributing questionnaire among European tourists who travel in cultural triangle. It was address push and pull factors and tourists perception on Sri Lankan food purchase. According to the findings of the research there were less influence of push factors on Sri Lankan food purchasing behavior of European tourists and pull factors have influence on Sri Lankan food purchasing behavior of European tourists. Findings reviewed that European travelers keen to having more information about Sri Lankan foods in Sri Lankan restaurants, and environment should be clean, comfortable and facilitated for European tourists. Study identified that European traveller’s keen to having all information on Sri Lankan foods and environment should be clean, comfortable and facilitated for European tourists. Supportive services such as air conditions, amenities, service methods should maintain in well conditions. Reasonable price level should be maintain in restaurants over the country. Food safety should be in proper conditions. Food should free from any type of hazards and modern marketing methods should use for attract more European tourists to Sri Lankan restaurants.
