Item Mobile Based Hearing Aid System(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2010) Basnayaka, B.M.W.K.; Kumari, D.W.C.P.Modern mobiles are used not only for communication, but also for entertaining purposes and as assistance for humans. Mobile application and utility development of mobile phones havebecome a popular research area. Mostly people use mobiles for entertaining than their original purpose today. As a blooming area of technology it is very popular in modern world and it has become a regular and most common gadget in human hands. Mobile based smart hearing aid system provides marvelous solution of less hearing and noisy audio by giving the freedom to the user to modify the audio in accordance to the user's own hearing preference. This software is capable of enhancing audio in normal conversation, while listening to music or even in calling. The main operation of this software is to enhance the audio by improving signal by boosting the audio signal using mobile java platform to provide cost effective software solution for people with hearing imperfections. In a conversation user can clarify whether the audio is in an acceptable level or otherwise the user can improve the audio by boosting it. Further, it can be developed to improve the audio quality by reducing the noise, improving real time functionality and adding audio effects to the input audio. This concept can be used for the improvement of audio quality of a call using the same functionality. Web applications and web technologies are rapidly developing. . Therefore "Online passenger friendly Railway Management system" is implemented as a web based system. The research mainly focused on the railway passengers to increase their satisfaction about railway service, There are two main modules of the research, the web module and SMS based module. Web based module consist of online train reservation system, online train and employee management system, online discussion forum and web based latest news distribution while SMS based module consists of train time table system. After login into the system and finding the name and number of the train that one wants to travel on from the web site the availability has to be checked out. Then by entering the details of the source and destination stations reservation can be done. If there are no trains running directly between stations which have been selected a message will be displayed indicating the situation. A successful reservation will be shown and displayed after making payment using the PayPal or system reloading. The receipt can be printed and issued. Key Words: On line passenger friendly Railway Management system, Online train reservationItem SMS Based Car Parking System(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2010) Abeyrathne, P.M.R.P.H.; Kumari, D.W.C.P.Due to the proliferation in the number of vehicles on the road, traffic problems are bound to exist. This is due to the fact that the current transportation infrastructure and car park facilities developed are unable to cope with the influx of vehicles on the road. In the present system drivers cannot obtain information on parking space availability until they reach the car park. To alleviate these problems, an SMS based car parking system has been developed. With the implementation of the SMS based parking system drivers can easily locate and secure a vacant parking space at any car park deemed convenient to them. Vehicle ingress and egress are also made more convenient with the implementation of hassle free SMS based reservation authentication and payment mechanism. SMS based car parking system provides information about available parking spaces via SMS. In this way, drivers can obtain information on parking availability, while reserving a parking space. Information on parking locations, space reservation, and regulations can be obtained via GSM technology. Key words: Traffic, GSM technology, SMS
