(Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, 2015) Chandrajith, U.I.G.
Tea Small Holding Development Authority is the main responsible organization which facilitates services to the small scale tea growers. Provision of extension services, subsidies and social development services are the main functions of TSHDA. However, it has been noted that those services are not provided in very effective manner. As a result, the productivity of tea small holdings has been declined. This study was conducted with the objectives of identifying the impact of the TSHDA services in Balangoda area regarding productivity of tea small holdings and to find out whether there is any relationship between services and their characteristics. Data were collected from a sample of 150 small holders by interview method. Dependent variable was green leaf production of the tea small holdings. Five independent variables such as Age level, Education level of the small holders, Replanting, Fertilizer use showed positive contribution towards the productivity of tea small holders. Negatively affected variables were Gender, Membership, New planting incentives, Infilling, Transport, Advisory services and Machinery supply. Key Words: Tea Small Holders, Green leaf production, TSHDA.
